In Real life - Missing Person
A red24 member was reported missing in Bangkok whilst on a business trip after he failed to return on the expected date. The call was immediately transfered to the security Manager, who took the available information and then contacted a red24 security specialist in Bangkok to start immediate investigation on the ground. The member had last been sighted at the airport attempting to depart several weeks earlier; he was apparently turned away because his visa had expired.
A member of the red24 UK security team met up with the specialist, who had already confirmed the event and information with the relevant Embassy and ascertained that both Interpol and the Thai police had been made aware of the disappearance. Bangkok has an estimated population of between 14 - 20 million people, making the trace of a missing person an immense task.
In the initial phase of their investigations, the security specialist:
- questioned colleagues at the member's local workplace
- visited the member's place of abode
- surveyed all local and expat hospitals
- contacted the member's bank
Frequent checks with the Embassy, immigration department and hospitals were maintained throughout the search over several weeks. Throughout the case, the member's family and employee were updated with the latest information and provided with regular briefings on developments, including country intelligence reports and risk assessments.
After an extensive investigation over a period of several weeks, the team ascertained that the member was alive but appeared to be disoriented and had lost a considerable amount of weight, indicating a severe illness. He was later found admitted to a hospital, unconscious, severely ill and with injury to his head. With the permission of his family, red24 acted immediately to move him to a private hospital by ambulance, where he was placed in intensive care and the medical team took over. The family were so confident in red24 and the security consultants on the case, that over a month later when the member was fit to return home, they requested the security consultant repatriate the member back to his home country and local hospital, where his admission had been arranged.
red24 maintained contact with the member and his family for some time to confirm that he had regained his health and was safe. |
